Monty Python is a national treasure of the United Kingdom. I think that Monty Python and the Holy Grail may be their best movie. Life of Brian is still a wonderful comedy. The movie shows its age in the very first scene, blackface. One of the three Wisemen is in blackface. Some jokes haven’t aged well. It is Monty Python through and through, so don’t expect anything else.
As with any Monty Python product the case rotates through multiple roles. It shows just how smart they are as comedians. They could have filled out the cast but keeping the core group just makes this movie better. If you need a low stakes movie that is going to make you laugh, then this should make your shortlist. Just save your vocal cords for the singalong at the end of the movie and remember to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
